Salvatore Abate was born in 1961 in Turin (Italy). He lives and works near Verona.
His love for photography started in the 1980s and turned into figurative art ( painting, sculptures, mixed media and more) in the early days of digital photography.
Just a few years ago he got back to photography after a long break, during which he discovered the old photographic techniques. Using the language of the old photographic printing processes (most of all cyanotype and gum bichromate) the author plays with modern society's issues.
However, is with gum bichromate, a perfect union between painting and photography, that the artist reaches his peak of creative satisfaction and best expresses his craftsmanship. By continuously researching and constant experimentation he is able to create truly unique pieces of artwork. Salvatore Abate also carries out outreach activities in cultural associations, photographic circles on the history of photography (from the origins to the advent of printing silver salts and pictorialism He has exhibited his works in numerous personal exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
